The digest has been renamed Marathon Florida Keys Journal here in the City of Marathon, Florida Keys, in paradise. Some regular articles have been retired for more popular content, but the In The Keys article will be more topical.

Click the word Index to go there now. This index lists all the journals throughout the years! (Dedicated to the first managing editor, 15-year-old Kitty GreyCat, who died suddenly of a stroke on July 9, 1997.) This monthly publication is written and produced mostly by Ebony BlackCat, managing editor, and Abraxas (Abby) WhiteCat, assistant editor. Us cats will do most of the narration you see here and elsewhere.

The journal goes to people and pets all over North America and to many different places throughout the world. Originally, the journal was an attempt to tie in our regular letters to family and friends with letters to the proofreaders, who help our human bean with his novels. Later, the journal included the residents in Roycroft Travel Trailer Park where we used to stay for the winter in Seminole, Florida. While in southeastern Ohio during the summers of 95 and 96, we included all of our Ohio friends. We used to try to visit Virginia Beach, Virginia, ten days in the spring and the fall visiting the parents. They have since passed on to heaven. We used to have our friends at Gulfstream Trailer Park and Marina in Marathon, Florida (Florida Keys!) In early 2004, I was forced to move to a nice mobile home close by, living with my family. In 2005, unfortunately, big developers were ruining Gulfstream, replacing it with Marlin Bay Yacht Club. The same developers [Sandler at Greater Marathon Bay] were evicting over 200 long-term residents in Wedgewood Mobile Home Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia, using the same nasty, underhanded tactics as they used in the Keys with Gulfstream Trailer Park and Marina in Marathon, Florida. In 2006, another mobile home park was evicting long-time residents at Jolly Roger Travel Park in Grassy Key. Also, I have my own small apartment! 2010 and another year in paradise, expensive, but still here. Sandler at Greater Marathon Bay's Marlin Bay Yacht Club grows from the ashes of former Gulfstream residents. Since I am stubborn and loyal, I won't let the memories of those former residents and friends die. 2010 looks good. I am still in my small apartment and quite content. Heck fire, it is 2010, and everything is fine.

So the journal has grown steadily these last few years in popularity and readership. The journal features articles called Kitty Talk, In the Keys, and movie reviews. The rest of the articles could be about anything and everything. Since the journal has been on our website, the webzine has grown to be one of our most popular areas. Frankly, the journal has become a viable and important part of the City of Marathon and environs. The new Marathon Florida Keys Journal bares little resemblance to our initial offerings in 1995. Enjoy. And purrity please paw our guestbook. And, YES, this place is run by us two really live cats!

1The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.2It is written in the prophet Isaiah: Look, I am going to send my messenger in front of you to prepare your way before you. 3A voice of one that cries in the desert: Prepare a way for the Lord, make his paths straight.4John the Baptist was in the desert, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.5All Judaea and all the people of Jerusalem made their way to him, and as they were baptised by him in the river Jordan they confessed their sins.6John wore a garment of camel–skin, and he lived on locusts and wild honey.7In the course of his preaching he said, ‘After me is coming someone who is more powerful than me, and I am not fit to kneel down and undo the strap of his sandals.8I have baptised you with water, but he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit.’
The New Jerusalem Bible: Reader’s Edition, (New York: Doubleday.) 1990.
