The Weekly Newspapers - Est. 2003

With the launch of our website in the summer of 2006, The Weekly Newspapers inched one step closer to becoming the leading source of information for the residents and visitors of the Florida Keys. http://www.keysweekly.com.

Already boasting the largest newspaper circulation in the Florida Keys, The Weekly Newspapers continue to be the only locally-owned and operated publishing company in South Florida, producing five weekly community newspapers and specialty magazines tailored to Lobster Mini-Season, Key West’s Fantasy Fest, hurricane preparation, real estate, dining, boating, shopping and fishing.

Founded by Ed & Loretta Frost and John Bartus in September 2003, ownership of the company was sold to the Weekly Editor, Jason Koler, and his wife, Kate, in August of 2006. Since then, Kate & Jason have built upon the founding principles of providing “entertaining community news showcasing the eccentric characters and tropical locations of the Florida Keys.”

Besides the community newspapers distributed throughout the Keys and South Florida, The Weekly Newspapers also produce a bi-weekly real estate guide and lifestyle magazine, Tropical Living, and the official hurricane preparation guides for the City of Key West, Village of Islamorada, City of Marathon and Monroe County. In 2006, the Weekly added the Boot Key Harbor Cruiser’s Guide to their credits. The Cruiser’s Guide is a yearly magazine for the cruising boater visiting the largest mooring field on the Eastern Coast.

Now celebrating their fifth year of existence, the Weekly Newspapers continue to be a leading supporter of area organizations like the Marathon Jaycees, Grace Jones Daycare Center, Rotary Clubs of the Florida Keys, the Pigeon Key Foundation, the Florida Keys’ Domestic Abuse Shelter and other non-profits of South Florida.
